HOW TO USE

-
PrepThe surface must be clean, dry and free of all loose or peeling paint and contaminants. Bare Concrete: Allow new surfaces to cure at least 30 days before painting. Clean and etch new or bare concrete with Valspar® Fast Prep® Cleaner, Degreaser & Etcher. Follow all Fast Prep label instructions. After proper etching, the surface should feel like 120‐grit sandpaper and rapidly absorb water. To test absorption, spray various sections of the surface to be coated with water. If the water does not absorb rapidly, or if the surface does not feel like 120-grit sandpaper, then etch again. After etching, rinse the surface thoroughly and let dry for at least 24 hours. For increased adhesion of the topcoat to the surface, apply Valspar® Concrete Bonding Primer before painting, following label instructions. Previously Painted/Stained Concrete: Can be applied over water-based coatings that are properly cleaned and in good condition. Remove wax and grease with an all-purpose cleaner (TSP or substitute). Remove gloss from previously painted surfaces by sanding. If the existing coating is failing or peeling, use a paint stripper or wire brush to remove all old, peeling, flaking coating down to bare concrete. Spot etch any exposed concrete until it feels like 120-grit sandpaper and rapidly absorbs water. Rinse the surface thoroughly and let dry for at least 24 hours. It is recommended that previously painted or stained concrete is primed with Valspar® Concrete Bonding Primer, following label instructions, before top coating. Clean Mildew from the Surface: Mildew is a fungus that looks like dirt but won’t wash off. Mildew must be removed before painting, or it will grow through any new coat of paint. To remove mildew or suspected mildew, scrub surface before painting with a commercial mildew remover following manufacturer’s safety instructions.
